Winchester (determined by PR dates) initially started using the superposed “WP” Winchester Definitive evidence mark in May 1905, and ongoing to apply it to most models from that time on. In my surveys, I have confirmed that date for the Product 1885, Design 1894, and Model 1897, and I think that Michael has verified the exact same about the Design 1892. Winchester suitable from the beginning marked the two the barrel and the receiver.

As I've examine, the barrels started to receive the “WP” at about 1905, and afterwards by 1908 both the receiver and barrel have been stamped Using the “WP”. Have been assembled receivers and barrels proved to be a unit (to get the “WP”), or ended up barrels proved employing a exam receiver? If examined as an assembled receiver & barrel, I could realize stamping equally concurrently, but at what Best Winchester firearms for hunting stage may be the evidence utilized, subsequent to the final steel sprucing but ahead of the bluing?
